BMI: Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women.

BMI Categories:

  • Underweight = less than 18.5
  • Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
  • Overweight = 25-29.9
  • Obese = BMI of 30 or greater

Metabolic Syndrome:  Metabolic Syndrome (also known as Syndrome X or Insulin Resistance Syndrome) is a cluster of conditions that increase the risk of heart disease.

Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 Diabetes is the most common form of diabetes mellitus. About 90 to 95 percent of people who have diabetes have type 2 diabetes. People with type 2 diabetes produce insulin, but either do not make enough insulin or their bodies do not use the insulin they make. Most of the people who have this type of diabetes are overweight.

People who have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes are at risk for developing insulin-dependent Diabetes (Type 1). Complications related to Diabetes include: cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, blindness, nervous system disease and dental disease.

The deeper the color of the fruit or vegetable the more nutritious it is!
