Winter Family Fitness

Grab your kids and get active.  Kids are much more likely to be active if you get out there and play with them.  Block off some time in your family’s schedule and make it a point to have some active fun.  Try some of the following activities.

Bundle your kids up for a winter hike. Scour your neighborhood or the nearest trail for signs of rabbits, squirrels, dogs, cats and other animals on the move.  Fresh tracks in the snow can be an adventure all in itself.

Check out the skating rink. Strap on your skates and glide around the lake or rink for a great workout. Skating takes balance and skill. Try a pick-up hockey game or bring your broom and soccer ball and try a game of broomball.

Put your snowpants on and make some snow angels!  Surprisingly good exercise – or round up hat, scarf, mittens and a corn-cob pipe and build yourself a good old-fashioned snowman.  Build the whole family!

Big family fun can be had on the slopes. Whether your skiing, snowboarding, tubing or tobaganning. Snow activities on the slopes makes for big family fun and warm memories.

Or wander to the city park for a game of Frisbee or “snoccer” – soccer in the snow!
